The McAfee Security division of Network Associates introduced small business editions of its Active Virus Defense and Active VirusScan product bundles. The new product editions are designed to provide small and medium businesses with an edge against virus attacks by including the management and reporting capabilities of ePolicy Orchestrator, the console responsible for enforcing the anti-virus security policy for some of the world’s largest businesses. The Active VirusScan Small Business Edition and Active Virus Defense Small Business Edition bundles from McAfee Security are fine-tuned for companies with up to 250 employees or end-nodes.
The Active VirusScan Small Business Edition bundle from McAfee Security includes VirusScan software for desktop protection, NetShield software for file server protection and McAfee’s ePolicy Orchestrator management console for advanced anti-virus policy enforcement.
The Active Virus Defense Small Business Edition bundle is more comprehensive than the Active VirusScan edition and includes VirusScan software for desktops, NetShield software for file servers, GroupShield software for e-mail servers and WebShield software for Internet gateway protection, all of which are managed by McAfee’s unparalleled ePolicy Orchestrator technology.
McAfee’s ePolicy Orchestrator anti-virus management console, a foundation for the new small business edition bundles, includes comprehensive cross-vendor anti-virus management, detailed cross-vendor graphical reporting and rapid software deployment. The ePolicy Orchestrator cross-vendor management technology should enable small and medium businesses to monitor and manage both McAfee’s anti-virus, and Symantec’s desktop and server anti-virus products. ePolicy Orchestrator technology may also improve enforcement of an enterprise anti-virus policy with the ability to detect the presence of Symantec Norton anti-virus on the network while ensuring the Symantec product is updated.
