It’s a belated Father’s day for online small-business merchants with two announcements from paternally named companies — Search Big Daddy and Go Daddy. The former is a new pay-per-click (PPC) search engine that pays you in PPC money as an incentive to use it and the latter is the site-hosting and domain-registry company’s plan to offer credit card processing.
Search Big Daddy starts by giving new members $50 in PPC cash to use as free ad dollars to promote their Web sites and listing in search results. New participants also get their own search engine portals, the idea being that you will also persuade friends and colleagues to use it too. You’re rewarded with PPC currency for each unique search and also for the referrals. This stash can be used to secure top keyword positions, allowing you to get a high ranking for one year. Try It, You’ll Like ItSkip McGrath, eBay how-to author and Power Seller, already signed up and is pocketing cash as a result. “I decided to try it and, lo’ and behold, I actually got hits on my Web site. What I like is that it’s a multi-level thing, it has a pay component but even if you sign up for the free membership it’s still a pretty good deal,” says McGrath. “I’m not going to get rich from it, but three or four months down the road I’ll be making a few hundred dollars a month.” In addition to the free program, Search Big Daddy does offer a pay service. “Their paid programs are basically just a way of pre-paying for PPC ads which you are doing anyway if you use Google or Yahoo — but these rates are much cheaper,” says McGrath. “For example, I got the number one position for the term, ‘make money on eBay’ for just 10 cents a click. That same position on Google would cost over a dollar a click. But, even if you are signed up as a free affiliate and someone under you converts to a paid program, you earn 10 percent commission monthly for as long as you are a member. So you earn both real money and pay-per-click money that you can spend on PPC advertising to drive traffic to your Web site or eBay Store.” While you won’t get the same amount of eyeballs viewing as you would at Yahoo, for instance, McGrath says it’s still worthwhile. “I don’t care where the hits come fro, and if you’re getting them cheaper that’s an advantage.” To try it out visit the sign-up page. Pop Tops: New Merchant Services
In other news, GoDaddy.com joined with Fast Transact to offer credit card processing. Bob Parsons, CEO and founder of The Go Daddy Group, Inc., says of the deal, “Expanding our merchant-account services to international and specialty-industry retailers further establishes GoDaddy.com’s commitment to e-commerce.” Accounts are available for standard U.S. merchants, specialty merchants and international merchants, with transactions processed through partners, including Fast Transact, who then deposit proceeds into the business’ account.
