Microsoft recently announced that license sales of the 18-month old Windows 7 have hit the 350 million mark, cementing its position as the fastest-growing OS ever. Windows XP, the former OS champion, held the record of most-installed Windows OS, but according to the news reported by our sister site, Datamation, the 10-year-old champ has quietly stepped down in the face of Windows 7’s stiff competition.
A year and a half after its commercial debut, Windows 7 has passed a new threshold.
Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) announced Friday, April 22, which was the 18-month anniversary of its release, that the company has now sold some 350 million licenses for the system — helping Windows 7 retain its ranking as the fastest-selling operating system in PC history.
