PCMag@Work (Small Business): DataCore Virtualization Software Solves Storage Problems
With the increased traffic resulting from desktop virtualization, storage area networks (SANs) sometimes become a bottleneck, causing delays and loss of service. DataCore’s new software, two years in development, promises to solve those problems.
“DataCore Software, one of the major players in the storage virtualization space, announced the availability of SANsymphony-V, the company’s new storage virtualization software that’s designed to let IT departments eliminate storage-related barriers. SANsymphony-V lets IT reshape server and disk resources that are already in use to meet the heavy workloads associated with virtual machines and virtual desktops.
SANsymphony-V, which has been in development for two years, avoids the performance problems caused by I/O bottlenecks, and the lost business (and revenue) brought about by downtime. It uses adaptive caching and performance boosting technologies to absorb wildly variable workloads while removing storage as a single point of failure and disruption. The software offers a flexible, open platform from which to provision, share, reconfigure, migrate, replicate, expand, and upgrade storage without slowdowns or downtime. In the past, such frustrations have made customers hesitant to virtualize crucial business apps, such as e-mail and databases.”
