PCMag@Work (Small Business): Asus Eee PC Netbooks Bundle Boingo Software for Wi-Fi
If you’re on the market for a netbook you probably want two things: portability and extensive connectivity. Rather than pay for an overpriced 3G package, even if it’s built in, you can stick with Wi-Fi. The hard part can be finding it. So Asus is going to make it easier. Future Eee PC netbooks (models 1005PE, 1008P, and 1201IN) will come with Boingo software preloaded.
Boingo is a subscription service for accessing public Wi-Fi hotspots. They pay $9.95 a month and get access to thousands of hotspots in the U.S., or pay $59 a month for even more of them worldwide (125,000). The bundling isn’t that big a deal since anyone can get a Boingo account and download the software for any laptop, but Asus customers will be getting some Boingo services for 50% off for the first three months of use in US, or one month at 50% off for the global plan.
