ZDNet: Dell Launches Desktop PC With Blazingly Fast AMD Processor

Dell’s new Studio XPS 7100 desktop PC packs the six-core AMD Phenom II CPU, a new generation of very fast, multi-core processors. Prices start at $749. The XPS 7100 begins shipping later this month.

“AMD officially (and finally) unleashed its 2010 processor lineup yesterday, and Dell took the opportunity to launch its first desktop packing six-core Phenom II X6 processors—the Studio XPS 7100, starting at just $749.

For that price, you currently get a choice of CPU/GPU combination: Phenom II X6 1035T and ATI Radeon HD 5450 graphics; 1035T and Radeon HD 5670; or the Phenom II X6 1055T and Radeon HD 5450. The latter two are limited time offers, as is the ability to upgrade to the 1055T and Radeon HD 5670 for an additional $50. It also comes with 4GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive.”
