Enterprise Technology For Small Businesses

ITBusinessEdge: Enterprise Technology For Small Businesses

Some of the enterprise technologies Paul Mah suggests SMBs could profitably use include deduplication, archiving and endpoint virtualization.

“Small and mid-sized businesses often find themselves in an odd position. Short on resources compared to enterprises, they are forced to rely on consumer-grade equipment or barely better equivalents that are rebranded and marketed as being designed for their needs.

Fortunately, the situation is quickly changing, with Gartner predicting that SMBs are poised to exceed $1 trillion in IT spending by 2014. Computer makers ranging from Dell to HP are quickly waking up to the vast untapped market that small and mid-sized businesses represent, and are scrambling to create products with their wide-ranging and unique needs in mind. For now though, larger mid-sized businesses are forced to rely on IT equipment designed and priced for the enterprise.”
